With great effort, the Xinghai financial and commercial centre has been developed around Xinghai Square in Dalian over recent years. This is now being complemented by a new congress and exhibition centre called the Xinghai Convention & Exhibition Center. This sets new standards among the surrounding office buildings in the city: the total building area across 44 above-ground and 4 underground floors amounts to 160,000 square metres. The structure rises 204 metres high. It is intended to become a new landmark of the city and to compete architecturally with the World Towers in Beijing and the International Finance Center in Hong Kong.

The design was the responsibility of the Dalian branch of China State Construction Engineering Co. Ltd. The construction was commissioned to China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Co. Ltd. The design of the green office environment was in the hands of the renowned landscape planning company Belt Collins from Hong Kong. The construction of the facade made of modern glass elements is very demanding. The Broad Group was responsible for the conception and execution. The question of load transfer in the anchoring of the facade elements posed a challenge for those responsible. To ensure absolute safety, the concept including the dimensioning of the anchors was subjected to detailed calculation and verification.

“Our clients ultimately chose our FES-H-50/30 and FES-H-52/34 anchor rails, which reliably absorb the different acting loads,” says Dr. Roland Unterweger, Head of the Business Unit Cast-in at the fischer Group. “The decision-makers were convinced by the installation flexibility and the accommodation of component tolerances. In addition to the safety and reliability of our solution with European technical approval, our comprehensive service in cooperation with our local subsidiary in China was also highly appreciated.”

The FES anchor channels offer high adjustability, thereby facilitating the installation of facade elements. The screw connection system eliminates the need for welding and drilling work on site. Thanks to its particularly high load capacity, the Cast-in Channel System is also suitable for heavy and demanding applications. It can also be used on different concrete substrates. "The use of our anchor channels thus enables significant time and cost savings while simultaneously avoiding damage to the existing structure," sums up Dr. Roland Unterweger the advantages. "In China, a truly exclusive office complex has been created with our cast-in elements."
