fischer secures the tallest observation wheel in the world in Dubai

Fastening technology from the Black Forest secures new landmark in the Middle East

fischer secures the tallest observation wheel in the world in Dubai
The wheel was not reinvented in Dubai, but it is larger and taller than any other: the Ain Dubai observation wheel sets a world record and is the new significant landmark of the Middle East. fischer fastening and system solutions ensure the secure standing of the observation wheel on the island destination Bluewaters.
After the deposition of several thousand tons of sand and numerous newly constructed apartments and hotels, the artificial island Bluewaters in the United Arab Emirates was ready for a project of superlatives. Thus, Ain Dubai will welcome its first visitors in October 2021.
The client of the project is Dubai Holding, a diversified global investment company with offices in 13 countries and more than 20,000 employees across ten key sectors: real estate, hospitality, leisure & entertainment, media, information & communication technology, design, education, trade, manufacturing & logistics, as well as science.
Various façade and installation systems as well as heavy-duty fasteners from the fischer group were used to construct the base of the observation wheel. The fischer fastening and system solutions firmly connect the base plates with the steel profiles. In hollow core slabs, the fischer universal mortar FIS V, together with suitable system components, securely anchored the attachments in the substrate. Here, a fischer anchor sleeve ensured that when inserting the anchor rod, the mortar was distributed exactly where needed, creating an optimal form fit in the chambers of the building material. Additionally, the fischer bolt anchor FAZ II was used in the concrete during the construction of the steel structure of the “observation wheel substructure”.

The modular fischer universal rail system FUS was used for fastening the supporting structure. With its clever plug-through connections, the mounting rails enabled quick and easy attachment of associated system parts, such as the sliding nut FCN Clix M for mounting pipe clamps with fischer threaded rods and U-nuts. Another system component included the universal angle bracket UWS. With the universal angle WK 100, the FUS mounting rails were connected to the anchoring base using screws and sliding nuts FCN Clix P, further securing and stabilizing the supporting structure. fischer facade systems were also used for fastening cement construction panels to the fischer secondary structure.
