In Saint Petersburg, a new stadium was built for the World Cup. Construction began in 2007 and was completed in 2016. Around 70,000 spectators can be accommodated in the "Zenit Arena". The stadium resembles a spaceship and is one of the most modern in the world. It features a sliding roof with a diameter of 286 meters supported by eight pillars.

The sliding roof was securely fastened and the support grid reinforced using the fischer injection mortar FIS EM. A total of 1,500 cartridges were used. Additionally, the installers used the fischer bolt anchor FBN II 2,900 times to fasten the support grid and several steel structures. For anchoring railings and stairs, they installed over 100,000 fischer concrete screws FBS in various sizes. Furthermore, more than 4,000 cartridges of the flame-retardant B1 pistol foam from fischer were used to install fire protection doors. "In the tests, our products demonstrated their technical advantages," emphasizes Andrey Egorov, Managing Director of the Russian national company of the fischer Group. "The high performance combined with cost-effectiveness convinced the client."

In the new stadium of the city of Rostov-on-Don, an additional 1,200 fischer injection mortars FIS EM 390 S and about 150,000 other products from the fastening specialist anchor reinforcements, seats, and railings in concrete. Here too, the fischer fastening solutions scored points because they are powerful and economical. In pull-out tests and test fastenings of the seats, they proved that they are suitable for a high level of performance.

Other products from the fastening expert anchor reinforcements and steel structures in reinforced concrete in the Kazan Arena. Among others, the fischer injection mortars FIS V and FIS EM as well as the bolt anchor FBN II were used. The number of chemical fastening systems alone amounted to 500. “In pull-out tests, our products proved to be a better alternative to competitors’ solutions,” reports Andrey Egorov.
A total of 60,000 fischer ULTRACUT FBS II concrete screws were used in both the Kosmos Arena in Samara and the Mordovia Arena in Saransk. The 120,000 steel anchors secure the spectator seats in reinforced concrete in both stadiums.

Further World Cup atmosphere is provided by the venue in Kaliningrad, where 70,000 fischer fastening systems fix the seats and railings. In the Spartak Stadium in Moscow, fischer installation systems are also used for the secure routing and fastening of supply lines. In particular, the ALK cantilever bracket, the MS mounting rail, and the FRS Plus pipe clamp were used here. In the Olympic Stadium in Sochi, which was renovated for the World Cup, 8,000 fischer long-shaft anchors FUR and 17,000 fischer long-shaft anchors SXRL also anchor the ventilated facade in concrete and slag blocks.

The stadiums in Russia all combine a representative appearance with modern technology. Thanks to fischer fastening systems and construction expertise, spectators can look forward – with literal certainty – to a successful football World Cup.
